Our History

Maltastar (27-03-2009)

maltastar is back again and it is my greatest pleasure to resume my contribution and share my thoughts with all you out there.

I remember years ago in my university days when I was called to attend a brainstorming session at CNL at Hamrun regarding an innovative project. Heading the session back then was Joseph Muscat and even then his leadership skills were outstanding. maltastar.com was then launched and one of my greatest prides in life is that I was a participant of this whole project at its very inception.

The PL was always an innovative and progressive party and maltasar.com is a very concrete demonstration of this. The Party recognised the potential of having an online newspaper, and this was innovative at the time.

Just look at the situation today – online newspapers are quite the order of the day. It was not always so.

maltastar.com was a pioneer in this area and all others just followed suit. It is important to mark our achievements. It is not a matter of boasting but simply giving information to all those who were too young to know these facts.

The same applies to the history of our country and our party. Our party’s history is a glorious one but try to ask a twenty year old about it. Young people simply do not know and that is why it is of utmost importance to educate the young generation about historical objective facts. It is not a matter of indoctrination or brainwashing like the PN does but an endeavour to invest in a purely educational exercise based on true historical facts.

We all should know where we came from. All children and youngsters have the right to know what the Labour Party did for the country and for them. That is why it is important to celebrate and commemorate events like Freedom Day next week.
