Labour believes in local talent, and in the energetic efforts of Maltese youths, as the Maltese public had the chance to observe during the 2008 Malta Song for Europe Festival, last weekend.
On Monday, Carmelo Abela and Dr Justyne Caruana, Labour’s spokespersons for culture and youth, congratulated Morena, the Gozitan singer who won the festival and will be representing Malta in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, in May. Abela and Caruana also had words of praise for the other participants of the festival.
“We encourage government to invest in Maltese youths – they are the present and future of our country, and every government is responsible of providing them with opportunities in all sectors, so that they can realise their potential in all areas.”
The Labour MPs explained that Labour has already set out a plan so that Maltese artists, particularly youths, will continue to develop their talents and excel.
In a statement, they also praised the Maltese sportspersons who were awarded the Sportspersons of the Year awards, last weekend. All those nominated for these awards should be highly commended, they said.
