Silent, tranquil Gozo is characterised by a lot of undercurrents which may pass by unnoticed. However, all of us living here and are in touch with reality know this and so we can express and even reveal what a normal naked eye does not notice.

Lately on the media a charade of ministers and government officials presented to the public ideas and projects in the pipeline. So far so good but just hold on a second, why now and what were they doing for the last twenty years? But then again, what they are presenting is not new at all – it is just recycling or regurgitating of the same ideas we have been talking about over and over again all these years.

As part of our party outreach we meet the Gozitan civil and commercial society on a regular basis. Most of them do not share our political beliefs but Gozo issues joins us and whatever they have to say for Gozo’s benefit and advantage we listen and press for it. Had election result been otherwise, we would have actuated and implemented whatever Gozo needs without hesitation or hickups.

However, during our last meeting some weeks ago they re-iterated the same problems and situation as prior to election meaning that everything remained status quo. The million Euro question is this: so how could these people vote PN again when they have first hand information that PN administration was and always was a flop?

I am not being bitter but I am speaking my guts out. People complained before election because things were not right – they had a choice and many did make the wisest choice and voted Labour that is why in Gozo there was a favourable swing in favour of the party which is still gaining impetus. PN strategists know this and that is why Gozo is being mentioned and featured more often in the media.

However, what we are being presented is nothing more or different than a masquerade. Gozo must be taken seriously and problems are not solved by doing private driveways with concrete paid from public funds.
