Gozo Enthusiasm

Malta Star (09-02-2008)
Prime Minister Gonzi finally blew the whistle and this generated adrenaline in a lot of people in Gozo. As from Monday people flooded in to my house and offices wanting to help in the campaign in all possible ways and the enthusiasm and eagerness I saw and heard was out of this world. People coming and vouching that they will be voting Labour for the first time is also amazing – and they are also very proud to be joining us and be part of the change and thenew beginning we will make.

All this really shows that the wind of change is filling our sails and each and everyday is driving us closer to a Labour victory which will mean a new beginning for all the country – a country without corruption with a responsible and accountable government. People in Gozo are fed up of being treated arrogantly and taken for granted – they want to be counted and respected and not considered only as walking votes. For Gozitans enough is enough now and the electoral result will show this soundly and clearly.

The Nationalist administration in Gozo took for a ride a lot of people. Granting favours to the undeserved while ignoring the genuine cases was the order of the day. I have handled cases of families in dire need of help and their requests were locked up in closets for years. On the other hand we had friends of friends benefiting from extreme benevolence and direct orders. Gozo was never so tainted and we never had so many cases in Court and other fora.

Labour Government will restore justice and Gozo will regain its dignity. Gozitans want change –and change they will have with a new Labour Government implementing the plan for new beginning.
