With Elections in mind.

Malta Star (12-04-2007)

General elections are becoming a very popular topic. Wherever you go and whoever you speak to, the spontanous question is: ‘when is election to be held?’. There is an eagerness which is very encouraging because people want change and they know that if an election is called Labour will win.

The Nationalist Party has an advantage in all this because they hold the whistle and they will blow it whenever it is convenient for them. Nevertheless, everybody knows that something is brewing. I was going through the government gazzette this week and I never saw so many calls for applications to fill up government vacancies. I know about posts being vacant for years now and there were no calls. Now there is need for receptionists, operators, cleaners, clerks, pathologists – you name it and you find the call in the government gazzette!

Lets be straight, so far our Government was going through a prolonged lethargic trans so its useless to try and hide the truth. This strange activity strongly confirms this. I do not want to be or sound sarcastic but come on - these are all symptoms and signs of election fever.

To be honest, we are all very eager about it – we want change – we want Labour.
