Great Revelation

Malta Star (06-10-2007)

We are living times of ‘great revelation’.

A few months ago I wrote about the Ramla l-Hamra developement blasphemy. Since then much has been said and done. Reactions to this outrageousness came from every corner and nevertheless from the high echelons of Cabinet, MEPA’s decision was backed and the project lauded. None of them ever spoke about a strip of land belonging to the Lands Department – omerta` until the matter was brought up by the objectors and then everybody was enlightened by this mystic revelation.

Now that the tables have turned it is very interesting to notice the change of mind – the pro turning con. I do not feel like thanking the authorities like some did but I really owe gratitude to those who objected and who fought for the cause. Authorities should have known that there was an irregularity. That is why they are there, to monitor and protect us all from abuse. For now Ramla is safe and let us hope that vigilance is not perturbed along the way.

Another revelation was given by Minister for Gozo in Parliament last week in reply to a parliamentary question about parentcraft lessons for pregnant women currently held at the Gozo mental hospital – also subject matter of my last article.

Minister Debono revealed that Government intended for a looooooooong time to shift the venue of these lessons. However, change of place only started the following day after my parliamentary question. It is useless to intend to do and never do. Any other revelation maybe?
